Ian Ramsey Centre to host European Conference on Science and Theology 2028

We are delighted to announce that the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion will be hosting the next European Conference on Science and Theology (ECST) in 2028. The conference will be held in Oxford, showcasing the IRC’s Quantum Worldviews Project. The conference will be organised in collaboration with ESSSAT, the European Society for the Study of Science and Theology. 

The conference theme will be “Uncertainties and Entanglements: Science and Religion in the Quantum Era.” Nearly a century ago, the founders and popularisers of quantum physics considered themselves to be ushering in a new era for the relationship between science and religion. 

Conference speakers will consider theological interpretations and responses to quantum uncertainty and entanglement from physicists, philosophers of physicists, theologians, and historians. In addition, shorter papers will consider the themes of uncertainty and entanglement in the wider field of Science and Religion. 

In due course, further details about the conference, including dates and opportunities for participation will be shared.
